Hollywood, CA —
Disney has confirmed that actress Scarlett Johansson has been cast as civil rights icon Rosa Parks in an upcoming feature film set to begin production this fall.
In response to previous criticism over its use of CGI and AI in character portrayals, Disney has opted not to use any technology or makeup to change Johansson’s appearance for the role. Instead, a disclaimer will appear at the beginning of the film encouraging audiences to “imagine Scarlett is Black for historical accuracy.”
Internally, Disney has pitched the film as a “bold and modern retelling” of the Rosa Parks story. In an effort to make the movie more appealing to younger audiences, the company is rumored to be adding dinosaurs, musical numbers, and a new romantic subplot featuring Ryan Gosling as a sympathetic Montgomery bus driver.
“Kids love dinosaurs,” one producer reportedly said.
“We are also trying to add an Islamic villain so they learn real patriotism, but we don’t want to give out too many spoilers.”
Sources also say Disney hopes the film will kick off a 20-film multiverse franchise, with future plans allegedly including a Django remake starring Brad Pitt, culminating in a crossover event uniting Rosa Parks, Django, Elsa, Moana, Thanos, and the velociraptors from Jurassic World.
“This is just the beginning,” said one Disney executive.
“We believe in telling powerful stories… and then milking them dry.”
A Disney representative also confirmed that a dramatization of the Tulsa Race Massacre is currently in talks, with early casting negotiations reportedly underway with a Norwegian talent agency to provide actors for the roles of the African American victims.
