Oklahoma House Republicans pushed through two anti LGBTQ bills in one day. One would block transgender Oklahomans from ever changing the sex marker on their birth certificate. The other would restrict government institutions from flying Pride flags or endorsing Pride Month. Both measures now move to the Senate.
Both bills were pushed by Rep. Kevin West of Moore. HB 1225 passed the House 73 to 18 and would lock the sex designation on birth certificates.
HB 1219 passed 74 to 17 and would bar state agencies from using public funds to promote Pride Month while also banning flags representing sexual orientation or gender identity on state property.
Oklahomans who oppose this still have time to fight it in the Senate.
Call your state senator, show up at the Capitol, speak publicly, and keep pressure on lawmakers before these bills get another vote.
