State License Required to Strip in Oklahoma  Under New House Bill 3832

Share

Oklahoma lawmakers are advancing legislation that would require exotic dancers to obtain state licenses before performing in sexually oriented businesses. House Bill 3832, along with related legislation, would create a state licensing requirement for “exotic entertainers” who perform in adult entertainment venues such as strip clubs. The measure places regulatory authority under the Oklahoma Alcoholic Beverage Laws Enforcement Commission.

Under the proposal, performers would be required to apply for and receive a state issued license before working. Applicants must be at least 21 years old, or provide government issued identification, and meet eligibility requirements outlined in the bill, including certain criminal background standards.

The central question surrounding the proposal is whether it is truly designed to protect workers from exploitation or whether it creates new avenues to criminalize them and generate extra revenue through fees and penalties.

What do you think? Do you support the bill? Let me know in the comments.
